The Water Element (수)
The Five Elements · perception and flow
When Water leads your chart
Water leads your chart — perception is your superpower. You read rooms, currents, and subtext, and you adapt before others notice change is coming. The depth to watch: feelings pooling where no one, including you, can see them.
When Water is missing
Water is absent — stillness has to be scheduled. Reflection, rest, and listening to your own undercurrent don't happen by default; you learn yourself through motion instead. Solitude in small, regular doses changes everything.
Where Water shows up
Water is rivers, ink, night, things that flow. Its colors run black & blue. In the productive cycle, Water is fed by Metal and feeds Wood; in the controlling cycle it reins in Fire and is reined in by Earth. Balance across all five — not more of any one — is what a reading looks for.
The day masters carried by Water
- Yang Water — Im (임수)
Always moving toward something bigger. Dam it, and the pressure builds.
- Yin Water — Gye (계수)
Rain that reaches where nothing else can. Knows your undercurrent first.
