The Earth Element (토)
The Five Elements · stability and custody
When Earth leads your chart
Earth leads your chart — stability is your gravity. You collect responsibility naturally and people set their watches by you. The risk is absorbing so much of everyone's weight that your own plans fossilise.
When Earth is missing
Earth is absent — grounding is your missing furniture. Routines, savings, staying put: none of it comes naturally, and life keeps teaching the same lesson about foundations. Build one small anchor and defend it.
Where Earth shows up
Earth is clay, fields, routines, things that hold. Its colors run ochre. In the productive cycle, Earth is fed by Fire and feeds Metal; in the controlling cycle it reins in Water and is reined in by Wood. Balance across all five — not more of any one — is what a reading looks for.
The day masters carried by Earth
- Yang Earth — Mu (무토)
The fixed point others navigate by. Moves once a decade — and it counts.
- Yin Earth — Gi (기토)
The quiet soil everything grows in, credited to the weather.
